Lavasa City is a planned private hill city located in the Pune district of Maharashtra, India, about 60 km from Pune. Nestled in the Sahyadri mountain range, Lavasa is inspired by the Italian town of Portofino and was developed to be a smart city offering residential, commercial, and tourism infrastructure. The project was undertaken by Lavasa Corporation Ltd. The city features scenic landscapes, a lakefront, modern infrastructure, and is home to several luxury hotels and resorts, making it a popular getaway destination. 

Lavasa was envisioned as India’s first privately built hill city, designed to offer a blend of modern living in harmony with nature. It provides opportunities for adventure activities like water sports, trekking, and cycling. However, the project faced several legal and environmental challenges over the years, including issues with government approvals and land acquisition. As a result, development was stalled for some time. Today, Lavasa remains a serene tourist destination known for its unique architecture, peaceful environment, and picturesque views.
